# Plan of Record — 2026-07-26 Product of the three-round inventory. Supersedes the Forward Arc table and the "What Needs to Happen Next" list in `book-status.md`, both of which are stale and, on Chapter 17, self-contradictory. --- ## The three lines **Line A — the trade book.** English composition, Kugel voice, general reader. Target publisher Yediot Aharonot; a section is translated and submitted once the book is complete, and the translation route is their decision. Audience narrowed 07/26 to the Israeli non-specialist, which magnifies the value of the historical and structural links to Egypt and reduces the value of the source-critical fight. **Line B — the public research channel.** Ledger → database → Academia.edu progress reports. Chosen over the website for immediate pickup. Currently the more productive line: five of the last six sessions fed it. **Line C — outreach.** Not a sub-task. It gates Line A, on your own stated position: the argument cannot go forward without an Egyptologist. Four contacts, no replies. If it still holds, the book is finishable but not publishable until someone replies. This is unruled. --- ## The forward arc as revised Chapter 19 cut. Ruling 7 then sends a re-weighting pass through exactly those chapters to do the divine-name work directly. Once that pass lands, this chapter has little left to say. Recommend cutting it, which would bring the forward arc to five chapters plus epilogue. Your call. **A number worth seeing now.** Five or six forward chapters at the master's established rhythm adds roughly 8,000–11,000 words to the existing 17,698. The book lands near 27,000. `book-program-trade.md` budgets 50,000. With illustrations and an Israeli trade format that may be exactly right, but it should be a decision rather than a discovery at submission. --- ## Research plan — the critical path itself Nine hours remain, and they are not equal work. Sequencing by the concentric program rather than by number is likely to work better, since the pairs have already been established — but that is your call, under rule 10. **Before the next research session, per ruling 8:** `second-pass-method.md` gets its certification line, and Hours 1–3 get re-checked against the certified text. Three corrections already surfaced in those three hours, so the re-check is not a formality. --- ## The illustration program (ruling 2) **The evidence says lead with your own diagrams.** Every engaged reader across the outreach campaign, including the most cautious, singled out the illustration as what made the claim graspable. Against that, four HTML figures already built (`torah-map.html`, `parallels-map.html`, `hour-register-chart.html`, `parallels-explorer.html`), the Exodus reference PNG, and the Frankfort plates rasterized in a past session and probably not saved. --- ## Repairs Carried from the inventory. None needs a ruling. 1. **The BEGIN reconciliation step.** At session open, resolve every file the newest diary entry names against the live site and check byte counts. The project has lost work eight times in eighteen days; this catches six of the eight. Highest-value single change. 2. **Rebuild the 07/24 article** into the repo from the Academia PDF. Confirmed live. 3. **`book-status.md` split** — a short binding file for what is in force, an archive for the rest. The append-log is why two contradictory Chapter 17 gates could coexist. 4. **Directions doc:** add the reconciliation step, add ARTICLE and PLANNING session types, replace "read the ledger in full" with grep-first. 5. **Catalogue:** six missing `_log/` rows; cells trimmed back to a file list. 6. **`chapters/` clean-out.** Cowork cannot delete — it produces the list, you execute. 7. ~~The stale `_log/2026-07-20c-ha-scenes-complete.md`~~ — **rescinded 2026-07-26.** The 07/20d rename was never performed, so that file is the only copy of its diary entry. It stays. See correction #134. 8. **The database regeneration** (ruling 9), with the certified-edition filter written explicitly into the JSON so the boundary is reproducible while two status vocabularies coexist. --- ## Still unruled 1. **The Egyptologist precondition.** Does it still hold, and does it gate Yediot? The only dependency capable of stopping a finished book. 2. **The impurity triad** in `chapters/10-the-book-of-gates.md` — the outline reading against the 07/12 source check. Yours to settle from the sources. 3. **The Rift After Eden** — cut, given ruling 7? 4. **Outreach** — does Line C get a file in `_book/`, and does the Academia output get archived there? Twenty-nine papers on the profile, three files in `academia/`. 5. **Renumbering** — sequential, or leave gaps where 19 was?
