# Book Status — "Who Composed the Torah?" ## Updated 2026-07-26d (forty-fourth revision — RESEARCH SESSION: **RULING 12 DISCHARGED — `second-pass-method.md` CERTIFIED WITH ITS FOUR AMENDMENTS; THE STATUS VOCABULARY SETTLED IN THE KEY BUT NOT IN THE BODY; RULING 13 ORDERED; HOURS 4 AND 9 COUNTED AND CLOSED.** H&A cuts for Hours 4 and 9 uploaded by M. Opened on ruling 12 and ran the outer concentric pair under ruling 11. --- ### What was settled - **`second-pass-method.md` is certified.** Ruling 12 is discharged. All four agreed amendments are written in: the two-field split; the Hour 1 sentence corrected so the mirroring runs middle-to-lower, Scene 4 reproducing Scene 2; the Forward Arc named as the second pass's destination in Sections 1 and 9, with the inverse commentary set aside as separate later work; and Layer 5c made operative and confined to Hours 1 and 2, with Hour 3 named as a single column meeting its registers one unit to a register. Deuteronomy hour 10 is left an open line until the Deuteronomy pass runs. The foot of the document now reads as a certification rather than a request for one. - **The status vocabulary is settled (M).** Relationship and status are two independent fields. Relationship is PARALLEL or ANTITHETICAL; status is PROPOSED, CERTIFIED or STRUCK. VERIFIED becomes CERTIFIED throughout; CONJECTURE is retired and its framework entries become PROPOSED. Both retired words are recorded in the ledger's head so a later session does not restore them. The ledger's declared key is rewritten to match; `parallels-summary.md`'s reader-facing labels now point at the same distinction. - **The ledger-body pass is BLOCKED and needs a ruling.** M ruled it could go to Cowork on the strength of Claude's description of it as mechanical. Inspection at close showed that description was wrong, and the pass was not run. Of the fifty occurrences of VERIFIED in the ledger body, most are not status values: `**PROPOSED, position VERIFIED [H]**` runs through the hour tables and means the status is proposed while the Egyptian position was checked at first hand. Alongside it sit `RE-VERIFIED AT FIRST HAND`, `VERIFIED-MODIFIED`, `TEXT-VERIFIED`, `UNVERIFIED`, `VERIFIED (secondary)`, `VERIFIED AT PRIMARY LEVEL`, and rows reading `VERIFIED [H]; M-CERTIFIED (07/17f)` where the two words are deliberately held apart. A blind substitution would rewrite "position verified" as "position certified" across dozens of rows and destroy the distinction the new key exists to draw. - **The gap this opens in the 07/26 ruling.** Under the certified key, CERTIFIED means checked against both corpora *and* signed by M. A row marked `VERIFIED [H]` that M never signed is therefore not certified — it is PROPOSED with the Egyptian side verified. VERIFIED does not map onto CERTIFIED one-for-one, and the ledger's head currently says it does. **For M:** either the head's retirement sentence is narrowed to say that VERIFIED is retired *as a status value only*, leaving the word free to do epistemic work in prose, or a per-row pass is run by hand with M ruling each case. Until then the head and the body disagree, and the disagreement is recorded here rather than smoothed over. The four CONJECTURE occurrences are a smaller matter — one is the retirement sentence itself, two are M's and C's own labelled conjectures from 07/13, one is a C-row on the Nut envelope — and they can move to PROPOSED whenever M says so. - **Ruling 13 is unblocked and ordered (M, 07/26).** The database rebuild goes into this session's Cowork package: incremental per `db-build/db-build-instructions.md`, B1–B7 not re-shredded, the 102,167 B of ledger growth since 07/19 shredded as new batches sliced by session block, then assembly, the three-check audit, and the editions. The vocabulary problem does not block it, because the shred is verbatim transcription and only the certified edition's *filter* depends on status. **The filter rule is now settled by the afternoon's finding:** a record enters the certified edition only where the ledger text records Moshe's own certification — `M-CERTIFIED`, `CERTIFIED`, `ESTABLISHED`, or a certification dated in his name. `VERIFIED [H]` alone does not qualify; nor do `PROPOSED, position VERIFIED [H]`, `RE-VERIFIED AT FIRST HAND`, `VERIFIED-MODIFIED`, `TEXT-VERIFIED` or `VERIFIED (secondary)`. Ambiguous rows stay out of the certified edition and are listed in the diary. So the discovery that broke the ledger-body pass is what gives the filter its rule. ### Hours 4 and 9 — counted, then closed - **Scene counts established at first hand (SC.4, SC.9).** Hour 4 runs 3–3–2, eight scenes; Hour 9 runs 2–2–2, six. Hour 9's shape is Hour 3's shape. The ring is not symmetric by scene count. - **The method's scene-count proposal fails its first test.** Section 5 proposed that a register's scene count answers the number of internal movements in the unit facing it. Across the ring three of six line up and Hour 9 lines up nowhere; the columns do no better. Recorded as a failure rather than rescued by a different axis. FW.12's shared ceiling survives and is now confirmed at first hand: every register and every unit dimension in the ring is drawn from two or three. - **A correction is owed on FW.13 and flagged, not made.** FW.13 has Leviticus opening at three scenes per register in Hour IV; the lower register carries two. M to rule on the wording. - **M's ruling: the second pass owes this ring nothing** beyond 4.7, 4.9, 9.8, 9.9 and 9.10. Recorded in both second-pass blocks. Most of what the session brought forward before that ruling was already certified material being re-derived; the check against the hour blocks is what caught it, and step 6R is the step that exists to catch it earlier. - **Two findings survived and are entered as proposed.** 4.10, antithetical, on M's lead: the fourth hour's register scenes close on menu, then the shutting of the doors and the wailing, then the offerer's price — the shutting three times inside the registers and again at the gate, and gone from all six of Hour 9's scenes, surviving only at that gate. The Torah's answering station has an entrance that has not been used, פתח אהל מועד six times across Lev 1:1–7:38 with אהל מועד seventeen times and none of them closing, because the tabernacle is not inaugurated until hour 5. 9.11: the caption "What Horus has done for his father Osiris" heads the lower register at both ends of the ring, identical in wording and position, which raises 9.9(a) from a shared motif to a shared heading. ### Carried forward - Hours 5↔8, then 6↔7, then Deuteronomy 10–12. H&A cuts must be uploaded at session open; they do not survive across chats. - Scene counts for Hours 5–8 and 10–12 are still owed at first hand. - FW.13's wording; the four Genesis-side corrections flagged on 07/26 at Hours 1 and 2. - Repair Scene 8 in `sources/ha-scenes-complete.md` and `sources/ha-scenes-database.json` — both omit Atum, which is verified present in H&A at first hand. - The em-dash defect in `parse_strict()`: strict rows whose expected-bytes cell is an em dash are dropped, so `2026-07-26n` reports two files against five claims and three have never been verified. No chapter drafting. Ledger 506,147 → 522,538 B; parallels-summary 82,161 → 84,686 B.) **Session type:** Research. Opened on ruling 12 (certify `second-pass-method.md`, re-check hours 1–3) and turned into first-hand verification work once the cuts were in hand. --- ## M'S RULINGS THIS SESSION 1. **Relationship and status become two fields** in the ledger — relationship PARALLEL or ANTITHETICAL, status PROPOSED, CERTIFIED or STRUCK. Written into the two entries touched this session; the ledger-wide split is a separate mechanical pass, not yet run. 2. **The Genesis hour parallels are created by reading the pairs.** A unit taken singly does not produce the parallel to a register. Layer 5c is operative, not provisional. 3. **The creation triad cannot be a pair-partner.** It is unique to the Torah and has no Egyptian register facing it. A proposed pairing of column A with column G was withdrawn the same session. 4. **1.4 and 1.5 reshaped, not struck.** Both had Egyptian claims that fail at [H]; superseded forms kept on the struck record per rule 4. 5. **Entry 2.4's verdict formulation changed at M's word** — the Torah defers the verdict rather than withholding it. 6. **Voice and process:** one question per turn, and plain sentences rather than scheduling idiom. Both now written into the archived settings text; neither existed in writing before. --- ## WHAT WAS VERIFIED AT FIRST HAND - **Scene counts SC.1, SC.2, SC.3 all stand** — 1–2–1, 2–1–1, 2–2–2 — re-checked against the register headings in the cuts. - **The Hebrew owed on 2.4 and 2.5 is verified at the docx**, not the PDF: Gen 28:20, 28:21, 28:22, 34:25, 34:30, 34:31, 49:5, 49:7, Deut 33:10, all verbatim. The condition blocking any upgrade on both entries is discharged. - **An error of mine, caught and corrected:** the reshaped 1.4 said the barque was flanked by Duat and Zemit. It is the pole. The flanking pair occurs three times in Hour 1, not twice. - **A spliced quotation in 2.4 repaired:** the incense clause and the gate of the god with hidden name sit four lines apart, not in one sentence. - **THE TWO-NAME VERTICAL.** Upper register Re, lower register Atum, through Hours 1–3, with the caption *what Atum has done for Re*. Hour 1 has no Atum. At Hour 4 Atum disappears, Re speaks at every register and descends to the floor to inspect his corpse, and the floor formula returns as *what Horus has done for his father Osiris*, with Osiris installed in the shrine. Set against FW.2 — two names in Genesis, one name from Leviticus — the seam falls at the same place on both sides, and the figure at the vacated lower pole is the corpse. - **Cross-hour reflections between Hours 1 and 2** logged in four legs, with one honest miss: the eye runs through Hour 1 at both registers and does not carry into Hour 2. --- ## REPO DEFECT FOUND `sources/ha-scenes-complete.md` and `sources/ha-scenes-database.json` both omit Atum from Scene 8. The actor who pronounces Hour 2's verdict is missing from the reference, which is why the Re/Atum distribution had not surfaced. Both files need repair; the ledger records it. --- ## STILL OPEN - **`second-pass-method.md` is still uncertified.** Ruling 12 is not discharged. Four amendments are agreed and unwritten: the two-field split, the Hour 1 register sentence (the mirroring is middle-to-lower, not upper-to-lower), the inverse-commentary destination that ruling 1 has since revised, and the pair reading as governing Hours 1 and 2 only. - Hours 6–9 and Deuteronomy 10–12 second pass. - The banned-terms check is built and tested but not deployed. One banned word remains in the draft — "matrices" — left in place at M's word. ## Updated 2026-07-26b (forty-second revision — SESSION CLOSE. Completes the session opened at the forty-first revision. **THE DRAFT IS ONLINE; `_book/` HAS AN INDEX; THE VERIFIER CHAIN CLOSED.** No ledger entries. No chapter drafting. Fourteen Cowork runs, all verified live.) **Session type:** Planning, continued. Revision 41 was written at the sixth of fourteen runs and records the rulings. This block closes the session and records what happened after it. --- ## THE BOOK IS ON THE WEBSITE `book.html` — the sixteen-chapter draft rendered as a readable page: chapter list down the side, the twelve structural tables rendered as tables, the two `[IMAGE:]` markers shown as captioned placeholders so the missing illustrations are visible as gaps, and a print stylesheet. It carries a standfirst saying plainly that the draft is incomplete, that the chapter the argument builds toward does not yet exist, and that it is public so a reader following the argument can find errors a summary would hide. **It is generated, not written.** `tools/gen-book-html.py` reads `who-composed-the-torah.md` and rewrites the page. A hand-made HTML copy would be a second copy of the book, drifting from the first. Re-run the generator whenever the draft changes; never hand-edit `book.html`. Verified reproducible: identical md5 across two runs. **`_book/index.html`** — a research index for the general reader: the book, the four visual tools, the research record, the published papers, and the working files. It deliberately links neither `sources/` (third-party copyright) nor `images/frankfort-osireion/` (rights uncleared). This also removes the constraint the session procedure was built around. `https://asitwaswritten.org/_book/` now resolves to a real page instead of the site's home page, so a chat is no longer blind to the filesystem. **Home page and sitemap.** A "The working record" block was added to the home page — root `index.html`, which turns out to be a hand-written static file and its own source, not a template. The sitemap went from 9 URLs to 15; nothing in `_book/` had been listed, so the research materials were reachable but orphaned, with no path a crawler could follow. This bears directly on the reason Academia.edu was chosen over the website for pickup. *Open, for Moshe's eye: the new home-page block uses `.about`, which has a burgundy background, so it sits directly beneath an existing burgundy block and the two may read as one field split by two labels.* --- ## THE DELETION INSTRUCTION — FIVE DOCUMENTS The most consequential error found this session was not a defect in anything. It was an instruction to delete `_log/2026-07-20c-ha-scenes-complete.md` as a stale file. That file is the only copy of its diary entry: the 07/20 rename to `-d` was described in the diary and never performed, and no `-d` file has ever existed. The two 07/20c entries have different filenames and had never conflicted. The instruction reached the plan of record, the handover, this status document, `book-directory-index.md`, and `_log/index.md`. All five are corrected; nothing now tells anyone to delete it. Recorded as correction #134. Nothing concealed it. The Round 1 census had already reported that no `-d` file existed, in writing, before any of the five documents were written. It propagated because it arrived pre-formed as a claim rather than as evidence, and each document copied it from the last. `_log/index.md` was repaired in the same run: the 07/20d bullet now points at the file that exists, and the 07/20b bullet gained a link target, having been unreachable to any tool since it was written. --- ## THE VERIFIER `tools/verify-deploy.py` went through six revisions in one afternoon. Each was driven by a defect the previous version was too blunt to see: a stale-looking constant hid the Cloudflare beacon; a loose filename regex hid the archived specs; the specs hid two index errors; the index errors hid a short-circuiting sweep and a retry cost. The final run exposed nothing new, which is the first time that happened. Two things it established that any future tool must know, both now in `book-chat-directions.md`: - **The 29,198 constant was the length of the site's home page**, which is served for any path that does not resolve. It was never a Cloudflare block page. The home page changed today, to 29,975 and then 30,334 — under the old rule every missing file would now report as present. The tool re-hashes the home page each run. - **Cloudflare injects a 359-byte analytics beacon into HTML responses**, server-side and client-dependent. The wire size of any `.html` file will not match disk unless it is stripped. Every strict check had passed only because no diary entry had yet claimed an HTML file. **A gap, named rather than fixed:** the verifier resolves everything under `_book/`, so root-scope changes — today's home page and sitemap — are unverified by construction. Acceptable while root edits are rare and individually authorized. --- ## CORRECTIONS LOG — continued **#135 (C, 07/26).** The END procedure was not run at session close. A handover file was produced in chat instead of updating this document and having Cowork record the session. Fourteen per-deploy diary entries existed; the session itself had no record after revision 41. Caught by Moshe. The handover is now deployed to `inventory/` and this block is the session close. --- ## STATE AT CLOSE - **Second pass: 3 of 12 hours.** Hours 1–3. Ruling 12 gates the rest: certify `second-pass-method.md`, re-check hours 1–3, then hours 4 and 9 as the outer concentric pair. - **Ledger** 506,147 B, 223 entries. **Database** still built from 433,902 B as of 07/19 — ruling 10 stands, unexecuted, and needs its own session. - **The book** 16 chapters, 17,041 words, online at `book.html`. - **Prepared but not run:** the Academia.edu import spec, and the revised project settings text with three decisions marked at its foot. - **Awaiting Moshe's hand:** four copyright and privacy exposures in `sources/` — the Kugel PDF, Hendel's *Cultural Memory in the Hebrew Bible*, Joubert's IFAO 2025, and Paul Hocking's email in plain text in `sources/jbl-2025-covenant-code.md`. Also `_to_delete/`, the `chapters/` deletion list, and `.gitattributes` → `eol=lf`. **The session's own lesson.** Three of the four verifier defects, and the five-document deletion instruction, surfaced because a person read an output carefully enough to notice a detail was wrong — not because a tool caught them. The tooling closed a real gap; it did not replace attention. --- # Book Status — forty-first revision and earlier follow below ## Updated 2026-07-26 (forty-first revision — planning and repair session: **THREE-ROUND PROJECT INVENTORY; SIXTEEN RULINGS; THE ARC REVISED; SESSION PROCEDURE AUTOMATED.** No ledger entries. No chapter drafting. Six deploys, all verified live.) **Session type:** Planning. A full inventory of the repo and of the project's direction, conducted jointly — Cowork auditing the filesystem, the chat harvesting material from past conversations that had never reached the repo. It turned into a repair session when the inventory found that work was being lost systematically. --- ## THE RULINGS (2026-07-26) — binding These supersede the Forward Arc table and the "What Needs to Happen Next" list below, both of which predate them. **On the book.** 1. The second half of the book is **the Forward Arc as written**, modifiable as the research completes. The inverse commentary is *not* the second half. 2. The audience is **the Israeli non-specialist**, which magnifies the value of the historical and structural links to Egypt and reduces the value of the source-critical fight. **Maximize illustrations.** 3. Composition stays **English throughout**, Kugel voice retained. When the book is finished a section is translated and submitted to Yediot Aharonot; the translation route is their decision. A Hebrew translator may revise the voice later. 4. **Chapter 19, the DH confrontation, is cut.** The Israeli reader is not fighting that fight. 5. **The Rift After Eden stays.** It is the most significant contribution to the analysis of the Torah itself. How far it reflects a structural link to the Gates is undetermined — see the new task below. 6. **Chapter numbering stays provisional** while the research develops. **On sequence.** 7. **Chapter 17 waits** for all twelve second-pass hours. 8. Chapters 18 and 20–23 are **not drafted in parallel** — the second pass first, then in order. 9. The **inverse commentary** drafts only after all twelve hours, as separate work. 10. The DH threading in written Chapters 6–12 is **re-weighted**: show how the names work, drop the JEPD framing. Worksheet at `inventory/2026-07-26-repair-lists.md` §3c. **On research.** 11. Second-pass sequence is **concentric pairs**: 4↔9, 5↔8, 6↔7, then Deuteronomy 10–12. 12. `second-pass-method.md` is **certified**, with the three hours worked under it unsigned re-checked. *Not yet executed.* 13. The parallels database **regenerates now** from the current ledger. *Not yet executed* — it is 72,245 B behind and needs its own session; resume procedure in `db-build/db-build-instructions.md`. **On the two other lines.** 14. **The Egyptologist precondition holds** — no publication without one. Moshe pursues this independently. 15. Academia.edu progress reports are written **only where a finding is strong enough to carry one**, as a byproduct of research sessions rather than instead of them. 16. The public research index **exposes ongoing work**; visibility may help engage collaborators. Third-party copyrighted sources are excluded. **New research task from ruling 5.** The three-term correspondence must be clarified: Israel / YHWH / Elohim on one side, Re / Osiris / the ba of Re on the other. Egyptian side is Claude's to prepare and needs H&A per-hour cuts; the Torah side is Moshe's under rule 10. Bears on Chapter 17's reserved garment payoff and on the Rift chapter. --- ## WHAT THE INVENTORY FOUND **The project was losing work systematically — eight incidents in eighteen days.** The 07/07 master corruption; the 07/10 damaged files; the Chapter 17 draft of 07/12; the 07/14 audit finding a third of claimed ledger entries never written; a 07/17d session with no diary entry; the 07/19 Task 26 session unlogged; a 07/20 rename that never happened on disk; and the 07/24 Ma'at article, published to Academia and never deployed. Cause: the deploy contract ended at "Moshe pushes," and the next session opened by reading a diary that records what a session *said* it wrote. Nothing ever compared the two. Closed by `tools/verify-deploy.py`, now step 1b of BEGIN. **Recovered this session.** The 07/19 ceiling/Exodus research, landed as `ceiling-exodus-research-notes.md` with the Frankfort plates. Most of the lost Chapter 17 draft, landed as `chapters/ch17-recovered-fragments.md`. **The five-register claim for the Book of the Day is withdrawn.** Symons (PhD, Leicester), reading Piankoff: version G1 has five registers, G2 four, both in Ramesses VI, and Piankoff's 1–5 text numbering derives from G1. The count is version-specific. The Exodus 5×5 parallel cannot rest on it as written. **The impurity triad is settled.** From `sources/structure-is-theology.md`: Unit-Triad C is VII (13:1–46) Scale Disease, VIII (13:47–14:57) Purification, IX (15) Genital Discharges, with X (16) the Day of Purgation *outside* on the far side. `chapters/10-the-book-of-gates.md` corrected this session, along with an unsourced "secret name" line and the Chapter 1 date (3,500 → 3,300 years). **The recovered Chapter 17 draft argues the opposite of the current ledger** at its strongest point — it calls the screen and the Judgment Hall "the same function," where S.1 has been ANTITHETICAL since 07/22. Ruling 7 vindicated: drafted earlier, the chapter would have gone to press on an inverted claim. --- ## CORRECTIONS LOG — continued *Numbering resumes the consolidated list, which had stopped at #112 with later corrections scattered through session blocks.* **#130 (M, 07/26).** The impurity triad in `chapters/10-the-book-of-gates.md` was wrong — flagged on 07/12 and left uncorrected for two weeks. It was copied forward not from memory but from a project file that looked authoritative. **Standing rule strengthened: verify against the primary source even when another project file already asserts the claim.** An outline, a summary or a chart is not a source. **#131 (M, 07/26).** Cutting Chapter 19 does not remove the Documentary Hypothesis from the book — it runs through written Chapters 6–12. Re-weight rather than remove. **#132 (M, 07/26).** The Rift After Eden was proposed for cutting on grounds of redundancy with Chapters 7–12. Wrong: the overlap is its foundation, and it is the most significant contribution to the analysis of the Torah itself. **#133 (C, 07/26).** The "29,198-byte Cloudflare block" was never a block page. It is the length of the home page, which the site serves at HTTP 200 for any unresolved path. Cloudflare Web Analytics also injects a 359-byte beacon into HTML responses depending on the client, so no single byte count could ever have been correct. Every strict check passed only because no diary entry had yet claimed an HTML file. Retired in favour of `tools/verify-deploy.py`; documented in `book-chat-directions.md`. **#134 (C, 07/26).** The instruction to delete `_log/2026-07-20c-ha-scenes-complete.md` as stale was carried into three documents — the plan of record, the handover, and this status block — from the diary's own claim that the file had been renamed to `d`. The Round 1 census had already reported that no `d` file existed. The claim was repeated without checking it at the source, which is exactly the failure #130 describes, committed the same day the rule was written. The file is the only copy of that entry. --- ## WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN NEXT *Replaces the list below, whose first two items were already complete.* 1. **Run `tools/verify-deploy.py` at BEGIN.** Before anything else, every session. 2. **Certify `second-pass-method.md`** and re-check hours 1–3 against the certified text (ruling 12). Gates all further research. 3. **Second pass, hours 4 and 9** — the outer concentric pair (ruling 11). This is the critical path for the whole book. 4. **Regenerate the parallels database** (ruling 13). Not in Chapter 1, not as background, not as contrast. The understanding reader will see the implications. The reader who doesn't know the DH doesn't need it. This was Moshe's decision and it is binding. ### Book opens with tomb photograph Chapter 1 opens with an image of an Egyptian royal tomb wall (three registers visible). First words after the image: "Where did the literary form of the Torah come from? To explore that question we must visit the tomb of an Egyptian pharaoh who lived nearly 3,500 years ago." These two sentences are Moshe's and are locked. ### Chapter 6 restructured as "Two Names" Was "One and Many" — a chapter about the one-and-many principle connecting creation to the tablets. Now "Two Names" — shows that Elohim and YHWH were already distributed across Part I's compositions (Elohim in creation and on tablets, YHWH in Babel and at the altar), introduces the two sets of tablets (first = Elohim, second = YHWH), and closes with a tomb callback: "We began this book at an Egyptian tomb wall with three registers. We leave Part I with two names and a field on which to place them." ### Personal narrative corrected Moshe has 40 years of peer-reviewed publications. He worked out the full 86-unit structure already in BCV. What he did NOT have was the explanation for where the author learned to compose this way — the Egyptian connection was the new discovery. The chapter reflects this accurately. ### Merism corrected "Good and bad" as a merism = the totality of DISTINCTIONS (not "everything," not "the full range of differentiation"). The tree gives KNOWLEDGE (דעת) of that totality — the faculty of distinction itself. These are two separate claims. ### Flood separation = potential, not resolution After the flood, every human descends from Noah (who carries both names). But this is POTENTIAL for reunion, not actual resolution. The separation has not been healed. ### THE LOOM TURN (Tenth Revision — Framework-Level Ruling) Chapter 12 introduces the distinction between two Egyptian loom types, both attested in the New Kingdom: - **Upright (vertical) loom:** warp hangs from beam, weft runs across. This is the loom for UNITS — the warp is what Ch 2 and Ch 4 described (vertical threads, invisible in finished fabric). Each unit reads across its weft. - **Ground (horizontal) loom:** warp lies flat between pegs, weft passes vertically. This is the loom for BOOKS — the three tiers are the warp of Genesis, stretched horizontally from first verse to last (heavenly, meeting place, earthly). Each column (triadic stack) is one pass of the weft — one throw of the shuttle across all three warp threads. This ruling is binding for all subsequent chapters. Earned through the tomb wall, not through loom vocabulary. ### Babel as single short throw Babel (Unit 4) crosses only the middle warp thread — a single short throw of the shuttle, not a full three-crossing column. This explains the arithmetic: 7 positions × 3 tiers = 21 slots, but Babel occupies only 1, giving 19 units. ### Warp-visibility reconciliation Ch 2 said "you never see the warp in the finished fabric." Ch 12 reconciles: "you never read a tier directly — what you see is what happens where the weft crosses it." The divine names are the warp showing through at each crossing. Corrected: Unit IV is TOP because its content is deity-oriented, not because it is the entry. Ledger FW.1. 109. **The name trajectory (Moshe): Genesis defines the vertical with two names (YHWH transcendent above / Elohim immanent below); from Leviticus on there is ONE name, YHWH, everywhere ("YHWH is all over" — YHWH does not recede); standalone Elohim (the name) is gone; the immanent pole is re-tenanted by the human/people, with the deity named only in the bound construct ("the deity of Israel").** The reversal at Leviticus's center is PERMANENT — it reorients the vertical of the whole remaining Torah through Deuteronomy; the Gates holds its vertical fixed (its reversal-imagery at the exit, not the center).
